Need – Leak Detection on Suspended HVAC Unit

A hospital mechanical room has a large suspended HVAC  Air handler. During summer, large amounts of water are pulled from the air. If the AC drain pan becomes clogged, water overflow can cause damage to floors and ceilings.

Solution

Install a battery operated water leak sensor in or under the drain pan. At the first presence of water, get an alert on your phone, tablet, and PC.

Need – Temperature Monitoring on a Medical Refrigerator

Mechanism to monitor temperature in a refrigerator or freezer used to store medical supplies, vaccines, chemicals, and other temperature sensitive materials.

Solution

Place a small battery-operated Temperature/Humidity sensor in the unit (no wiring needed). A web dashboard shows the latest temperature and humidity readings along with graphical views of historical readings. Receive logs via email or access on demand. If temperature or humidity deviate from a set range or the sensor battery needs to be replaced, receive an alert on your phone, tablet, and PC.

The screenshot below shows a sample dashboard. To see a real time dashboard, go to the ‘Vaccine/Medical Supply Refrigerator #1″ tab in the Mercy Hospital Dashboard.

Need – Temperature and Humidity Monitoring in an Attic Space

Mechanism to monitor temperature and humidity conditions in the attic of a foam envelope structure.

Foam Insulation in Attic

Solution

Place a small battery-operated Temperature/Humidity sensor in the attic space (no wiring needed).

If there is an HVAC Air Handler or Fan Coil in the attic, install a small battery-operated Leak Detector with temperature/ humidity sensing capability (no wiring needed).

A web dashboard shows the latest temperature and humidity readings along with graphical views of historical readings. If temperature or humidity readings deviate from a set range or if water is detected, an alert is sent. Upon receiving the alert, a technician uses the information in the dashboard to identify potential problems.

Dashboard

In one case, the humidity was abnormally high in the attic. With the information from the dashboard, a subsequent investigation revealed that the attic access hatch had not been completed properly, allowing humidity laden outside air to be drawn into the attic. Once the access hatch was repaired, the high humidity disappeared.

In another case, a review of the dashboard graphs from a leak detector located in the attic showed that humidity level was higher than expected. The air handler in the adjacent detached area was checked and found to be not working. Once the air handler was repaired, the high humidity disappeared.

Need – Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

Mechanism to monitor the CO2 levels in the Workspace, Buildings, or Home to comply with Indoor Air Quality and Healthy Air standards*.

*Energy Saving Fact Sheet – Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality

*CDC Ventilation Recommendations

Solution

Install a small, battery operated CO2 sensor (no wiring necessary) that feeds data into a constant view/graph of conditions in the sensor space. If the CO2 level exceeds the ASHRAE maximum of 1000 ppm for Schools/Residential, 800 ppm for Offices, or the CDC maximum of 800 ppm recommended levels of CO2,  get an alert on your phone, tablet, and PC.

If conditions persist, the Ventilation Strategy may need to be changed.

Need – Door Monitoring Solution

A Refrigerated Walk-In Box door gets left open for extended periods of time causing damage and costly waste of items in storage.

Walk-in Box Refrigerator

Solution

Install a small battery-operated door sensor. If the door is left opened for more than 10 minutes, get an alert on your phone, tablet, and PC. No wiring needed! Will also provide you with the number of times and duration the door is opened in 24-hour period.

Need – Temperature and Humidity Monitoring in a Greenhouse

Commercial greenhouse operation covering several acres; maintaining controlled temperature and humidity within each greenhouse is crucial for plant health.

commercial greenhouse

Solution

Place several battery operated Temperature/Humidity sensors within each greenhouse. With LoRaWAN coverage, each sensor easily reaches the LoRa gateway placed in the main office. With your phone, tablet, or PC, see the conditions of each greenhouse at a glance. If temperature or humidity go outside optimal conditions, get an alert on your phone, tablet, and PC.

Need – Monitoring of Outdoor CO2 Levels to Assess Carbon Capture of Local Flora

Monitor native forest flora and trees to measure carbon capture and determine which species would work best for reforestation projects.

Solution

Mount a battery-powered, wireless outdoor sensor to measure CO2 emissions. A web dashboard shows the latest CO2 reading along with graphical views of historical readings.

Need – Soil Condition Monitoring to Support Development of Regenerative Farming Techniques

Data-driven and standardized regenerative agriculture solutions to protect the land while improving framing practices and outputs.

Solution

Mount a battery-powered, wireless, outdoor sensor to measure soil moisture, temperature, and Electrical Connectivity. Soil electrical conductivity (EC) is a metric of the salt content in the soil which will affect crop yield and quality, plant nutrient availability, and the activity of soil microbes. A web dashboard shows the latest sensor readings along with graphical views of historical readings.

Need – Soil Condition Monitoring to Improve Farming Efficiency and Production Output

Mechanism to gather data to enable more informed and timely decision-making for crop, soil, pest, and local ecosystems management.

Need – Monitoring of Temperature-Sensitive Medical Facilities

Clinic/Hospital Lab Areas; high temperature and humidity are factors that negatively affect the use or outcome of profitable production in the area.

Solution

Install a small battery operated Temperature/Humidity sensor;  if temperature or humidity exceeds the predefined threshold, get an alert on your phone, tablet, and PC.

Need – Indoor Monitoring for Mold Conditions

Ability to predict if conditions are favorable for mold growth in a Workspace, Building, or Home.

Solution

Install a small battery operated Temperature/Humidity sensor that is programed to provide an alert when the Workspace, Building, or Home has reached conditions favorable for mold growth;  get the alert on your phone, tablet, and PC.
